The Universal Audio OX is an amp attenuator designed for tube amps which can handle a speaker load and provide several different cabinet emulators. Cab emulators are included in these devices because the attenuator allows you to bypass your speaker cab for silent practice or for sending a balanced output to a PA system.
These units are generally not cheap, which is seen in the high price point of the OX. However, they allow you to keep your preamp and avoid having to add a microphone, while also enabling you to play quietly, if needed.

Used options?
When we checked Reverb, this attenuator had a fairly strong presence despite the high price tag. However, the reduction in price was modest at best. We noticed a couple hundred dollars off roughly, but most of them were near full price. This is a piece of gear that clearly holds its value.

You aren't likely to get a huge discount on the Universal Audio OX attenuator. Most attenuators are fairly expensive because they're essentially like buying a second amplifier.
