Where should I buy a Martin acoustic guitar?
For a new Martin, Sweetwater is a good starting point.
If you're looking to buy a new Martin acoustic, we recommend Sweetwater because of their selection and sales team. They'll also set the guitar up for you and run it through their own inspection routine.

Martins and Taylors dominate the acoustic guitar market. If you're looking to buy a Martin acoustic, you browse any of the major online retailers, though we've found that Sweetwater is one of the best, with the widest selection of Martin acoustics.
For buying new, we'd recommend starting there.
We'll list some of the other popular retailers below with updated pricing. We'll also cover some used market options for buying a Martin acoustic.

What to consider before buying a new Martin acoustic
Here are a few things to keep in mind before you pull the lever on a new Martin acoustic guitar:
Are there B-stock options for the Martin you want?
Sometimes Sweetwater or other instrument retailers will have open-box or B-stock options. You usually won't be able to tell unless you check that guitar's product listing page, but it can be a good way to snag a deal.
Are you planning to finance the purchase?
Though we would not recommend financing a guitar, you can do it depending on where you buy from. Sweetwater provides financing, and so do some of the other big box retailers.
What's the return policy?
This is important to check before you buy something like a guitar, especially if it's a higher-priced instrument, which Martins are known for. Again, this depends on the retailer, so do some reading or checking with their sales team to figure out what the return policy is.
Is it okay to buy a used Martin acoustic?
You can save some money if you're okay with buying used. We'd recommend Reverb, though eBay is another place you can look. Here are a few things to check if you're buying used:
- Year of the Martin (most are versions from years past)
- Condition of the guitar
- Reputation of seller (usually easy to spot with a star rating)
- Used price compared to the new price
So is it okay to buy a Martin acoustic used? It definitely is, but keep in mind that you assume a bit more risk than if you buy new. Both Reverb and eBay have good conflict resolution departments, but it's not as "safe" as buying new from a company like Sweetwater or Guitar Center.
