WHICH PRS GUITAR SHOULD I BUY?
Take our quiz to get a suggestion based on your situation.
The biggest decision you'll have to make is going to be based on your budget. If your budget is high, around $3k or more, you can go with the mainline/Core models that are some of the nicest guitars available. If you're closer to the $1k price point, the SE series will be your best bet. The S2 PRS models are kind of in the middle. Take our quiz to get some more help deciding.

There are a ton of PRS guitars to pick from, and they're all excellent for what you pay. But that's the biggest question to answer: What's your budget and what can/should you pay for?
This quiz relies heavily on your budget, but will also help you iron out some other things to consider like musical style, and pickups.
Note that PRS guitars are known for being incredibly versatile - even the cheaper ones.
So don't agonize too much over this decision, and take our quiz with a grain of salt.

The Budget Question
As we mentioned, the biggest issue here is budget. While there's plenty of nuance to consider, here's a simplified breakdown:
- Lower budget ($1000ish): SE series
- Medium budget ($2000ish): S2 or CE series
- High budget ($3000 or higher): Most Core models
This is what you need to decide first, so in our quiz we've weighted the budget question pretty heavily. Though, keep in mind, there are SE versions of almost all the Core model PRS guitars. If you like one of the Core models that are too expensive, you could consider getting the SE version and saving a lot of money.
Features to pay attention to
After you've established a budget, here are some additional features you need to keep in mind:
- Top tonewood and carving
- Type of pickups (single coil or humbucker)
- Brand of pickups (PRS or third party)
- Bridge type (Standard, Floyd Rose, or PRS tremolo)
- Style lean
Note that the PRS brand pickups are usually quite good, especially on guitars in the higher price ranges. They're actually sold as standalone products, just like Gibson and Fender pickups.
So you're getting a branded pickup, and not just a stock pickup.
We even like the PRS humbuckers on the SE models.
Which PRS is the best value?
The PRS SE Custom 24 is widely considered one of the highest-value electric guitars available. It's a fantastic go-to for someone who wants a guitar that can handle a wide range of styles at a manageable price tag.
We've reviewed it in full if you're interested.

Which PRS is best overall, regardless of price?
Like the SE version, our top recommendation is typically the PRS Custom 24. The Modern Eagle V is also an incredible guitar.
They're expensive, but they're some of the best, if not the best guitars on the market.
