Best Bass Amp Under $1000: Fender Rumble 500
We'll cover some small amp heads below, but my favorite recommendation is this combo amp by Fender. The Rumble series is pretty well known, and it comes in several different wattage variations, giving you a wide price range, all of which are less than $1000. Keep in mind, there's actually a head version of the Rumble as well, so you can go that route if you don't need the combo. But this is one of the most popular bass amp series on the planet, so I'm comfortable recommending all of them in this price range.

Like I said above, the Rumble series is the "can't go wrong" of the bass amp world.
2. Darkglass Microtubes 500
Best microtube bass amp head under $1000
I really like Microtube technology, which you can find in bass preamp pedals and amp heads alike. Darkglass adds some modern features, including built-in compression, a graphic EQ, and a some IR cab simulations.
3. Gallien-Krueger MB112-II
Best bass amp for flexible EQ in the sub-$1000 price range.
The MB112 is similar to the Rumble 500, but this is a 200 watt version with a four-band EQ. You might consider it a modest upgrade from the cheaper Rumble combo.
4. Hartke LH1000 Bass Amp Head
Best Class-A tube bass amp under $1000.
If you have the amp cab to handle the wattage, this head gives you 1000 watts of power and 12AX7 tubes in the preamp. It's very loud.
5. Orange Terror Bass Amp Head
Best small bass amp head under $1000.
The popular electric guitar amp, the Orange Micro Terror, takes the bass form here. It's small and straightforward, if not a little overpriced.
