What are the best guitar pedals for a PRS Silver Sky?
Here's our simplified answer and pedal list:

For the PRS Silver Sky we're looking to add some analog overdrive for blues and rock, but staying away from the heavy metal stuff. From there it's ambience (delay and reverb) and some advanced tremolo with different waveforms. We'll also throw in a wah pedal recommendation from the Cry Baby series, deviating from my normal Morley switchless pickups.
1. JHS Morning Glory V4 Overdrive
You can use this as an always-on "transparent" clean boost, but the Morning Glory is primarily a traditional-style overdrive that will meld well with the Silver Sky's crips and bright response, but with a "bright cut" option if you need to take away some harshness.
- Why It Works for the Silver Sky:
The Morning Glory's transparency highlights the clarity and chime of the Silver Sky’s pickups, preserving their articulation while adding warmth. - Best Use:
Pair it with a clean amp setting for a dynamic, touch-sensitive overdrive.

Here's the JHS Morning Glory. By the way, the Fulltone OCD and Xotic booster are good picks for the Silver Sky as well.
2. Ibanez TS808 Tube Screamer
It's hard to beat the Tube Screamer series, especially for a lead-focused guitar like the PRS Silver Sky. Somehow the TS808 does it all, and has been doing it all for many decades. Just ask John Mayer.
- Why It Works for the Silver Sky:
The Tube Screamer’s pronounced midrange complements the Silver Sky’s natural brightness, creating a smooth, singing lead tone. - Best Use:
Stack it with the JHS Morning Glory for layered drive tones or use it on its own for vintage blues and rock sounds.

Maybe one of the best pedals for a Silver Sky we can recommend, or any electric guitar rig.
3. Line 6 DL4 MK2 Delay
I almost put the EHX Memory Man Deluxe here, but I can't bring myself to recommend it above the DL4. The second iteration of the DL4 is one of the best delay pedals on the market, with a ton of both legacy and modern delay sounds.
- Why It Works for the Silver Sky:
Whether you’re playing rhythm or ambient swells, the DL4 MK2 enhances the Silver Sky's clean and overdriven tones with a wide range of delay modes and long reverb trails. - Best Use:
Use the looper for practice or live performance, and explore ambient settings to create atmospheric soundscapes.

The original and the redux. My favorite delay pedal, Silver Sky or otherwise.
4. TC Electronic Spark Mini Boost
For blues runs and lead guitar in general, the Spark Mini booster will give you 20 dB of additional gain, which can be especially helpful if you're using your amp as your main distortion source.
- Why It Works for the Silver Sky:
It lets you drive the front end of your amp or other pedals without altering the Silver Sky’s natural tone, making it ideal for solos or dynamic shifts. - Best Use:
Place it last in your pedal chain for volume boosts or before your overdrives to add more gain.

If you need more boost (you might not if you have a couple overdrive pedals) this is the way to go. Simple and affordable.
5. Walrus Audio Monumental Tremolo
If you like waveshapes and tap division options, like I do, this tremolo pedal has plenty of both. If you don't care about that stuff, you could downgrade to the Boss TR-2 and save some money. However, the Walrus Audio Monumental is one of the best trem pedals on the market.
- Why It Works for the Silver Sky: Its harmonic tremolo setting complements the Silver Sky’s chimey tones.
- Best Use: Use the harmonic tremolo mode for subtle modulation or the standard tremolo for rhythmic pulses in funk or indie rock.

Waveforms and tap division options give you a lot of flexibility compared to a traditional tremolo pedal. Tremolo in general is a good effect to pair with the PRS Silver Sky.
6. Dunlop Joe Bonamassa Signature Cry Baby Wah
I typically go for Morley switchless wahs, but the JB95 sounds great with the nuance and definition of single coil pickups. I know it's hard to draw much distinction between wah tones, but Joe's signature truly sounds fantastic.
- Why It Works for the Silver Sky: Tuned for blues by one of the greatest lead guitar players of this generation. I get that Bonamassa plays a lot of Les Pauls, but this doesn't deter me from recommending it for the Silver Sky.

7. Bonus Recommendations
- Electro-Harmonix Holy Grail Reverb: Vintage-style reverb.
- MXR Phase 90: Simple, analog phaser pedal, used by a ton of pros over the years.
- Strymon Flint Reverb & Tremolo: A high-end reverb/tremolo combination with multiple modes and advanced controls.

Combine reverb and tremolo for more ambient options.
