What's the best Multi-Effecst Pedal Under $500? Our Top Pick
The Line 6 HX ONE
The HX ONE is the cheapest way to get access to the Helix family of effects, the same ones used in the Line 6 HELIX Floor and Helix LT. I've reviewed it in-house, which you can read here, so I can vouch for the HX ONE from personal experience. Obviously control is more limited compared to larger multi-effects units, but the tones and quality are still there, and you can always add a MIDI controller for easier algorithm selection.

BEST FOR: Recording, bring-your-own-amp, budgets, Helix fans.

- Distortion models are surprisingly good
- Tons (and tons) of ambient effects
- Reverb algorithms with octaves sound great
- Synth models are a lot of fun
- Great price point
- Very easy to control
- Not having physical knobs for all control elements takes some getting used to
- The smaller size can also be a weaknesses since you have a smaller LCD screen to work with

Why I Like the Line 6 HX ONE
The HX ONE has the same digital effects models as the rest of the Helix pedals, all of which are vastly more expensive. Of course, the HX ONE it's more limited in scope and does not include amp models. But as an effects engine, it meets the same quality standard in a far simpler and more compact pedal. If your goal is affordability, this is it.

The HX ONE ready for testing in my home studio, which was poorly lit at the time.
Selection and Recommendation Methodology
The Instagram Reels and images are my own, so I hope it's clear that I actually used the HX ONE. I've also used most of the multi-effects pedals in the above table (the honorable mentions) and they're all less than $500 currently (check the price guide below to verify current prices). I stick to brands I trust, and heavily favor effects pedals that I've used or can verify via other guitar players.

All of the recommendations I make are based on first-hand experience. Thanks for trusting our content.
