What's the best-value Tube Amp Under $2000? Our Top Pick
The Mesa/Boogie Mark V:25 (amp head version)
You could argue that any Mesa amp deserves this top spot, but I'm most familiar with the Mark V and the Badlander. We recommend the lower wattage version because it saves you a ton of money, but if you need the added volume, there are higher wattage versions as well. As for the Mark V, there are eleven different ways to adjust the EQ, along with a built-in attenuator. It's a fantastic tube amp for the sub $2000 price.

BEST FOR: Heavy metal, modern rock, high gain, recording, percussive tones, dual humbucker electric guitars.

- You do NOT need a speaker cab to use the amp head version (basically has an internal speaker emulator
- Tone is absolutely perfect for metal and modern rock
- EQ is extremely comprehensive
- Dual channel and included footswitch
- Headphone output...on a tube amp
- Smaller form is easy to transport
- Absolutely none for the price

The Badlander is a really nice alternative to the Mark V as well, and is still under our salary cap.
Why I like the Mesa Mark Five 25
There are two channels on the Mark Five:25 along with a five-band graphic EQ to go along with gain, bass, mid, treble, and presence. To get our eleventh control, you can set reverb levels for each channel. And the major "hidden gem" with this amp is a built-in attenuator (speaker load ) and cabinet emulator, allowing you to use a headphone out without a speaker cab attached. Since amp attenuators are very expensive, this is a huge boost to the Mark Five's value.

Tons of a EQ to work with and a wattage selection switch for both channels.
On the back, you can see the headphone jack, reverb controls, and DI CabClone output that allows you to go straight to a PA system or recording interface.

Having an attenuator in a guitar amp is awesome. It lets you roll with a speaker cab or headphones.
Selection and Recommendation Methodology
My recommendations are based entirely on personal experience and familiarity with this industry. I know Mesa amps and have used them, so I'm comfortable recommending them to other people. This makes the process pretty simple, really.

All of the recommendations I make are based on first-hand experience. Thanks for trusting our content.
It means there might be other tube amps under $2000 that are good options, yet this is the one I can recommend from first-hand experience. If you have questions about my process, feel free to ask.
