3 Pickup Upgrades for the Epiphone Flying V (non-Korina version)
Compatibility Notes: The EMG set is a pair of active humbuckers, meaning they'll need to be connected to a 9V battery and installed in the interior of the Flying V. There should be room for this under the front pickguard,
Epiphone Flying V Pickup Upgrade Guide
These are suggestions for upgrading the pickups on an Epiphone Flying V, a very affordable guitar that can really benefit from a few mods. As suggestions go, these are subjective, but well-informed and made by real guitar players. Note this is for the non-Korina version of the Flying V, since that version already comes with Gibson Burstbuckers.

The Epiphone Flying V is a great base model guitar that can benefit from a few simple upgrades.
Gibson Burstbuckers
The Korina model actually comes with these and a few other improvements over the standard Flying V. But if you get the Burstbucker set and the standard Flying V, it's still cheaper than the Korina. Your call.

Seymour Duncan Pearly Gates
We always recommend the Pearly Gates for classic rock styles, or perhaps a hybrid of low and high gain styles. They're a really reliable "go-to" humbucker set, given their versatility. They definitely have an edge, which will go well with the Flying V's profile, but a lot of good chime as well.

EMG JH James Hetfield "Het" Active Humbucker
This would be the heaviest and most modern pickup set of the three, ideal for heavier styles and high-gain. Obviously Metallica fans should take note.
Compatibility note: Active humbuckers require a 9V battery and have a slightly different installation process than passive humbuckers. Consult help from a repair shop, if needed.
